IS Founder
Gregory Scherick, International Scherick's founder, brings a quarter century of mastery using myth, story structure, and the unconscious to facilitate a powerful creative process.
Mr. Scherick's fascination with the creative process began early while growing up in the motion picture business. He spent much of
his formative years on countless film sets and
locations with his father, who produced such seminal 70s classics as Take the Money
and Run (Woody Allen's directorial debut); Sleuth (starring Michael Cane and Sir Lawrence Olivier); The Stepford Wives;
and many more.
It was during a decade that gave birth to some of Hollywood's most memorable films that young Mr. Scherick would spend late-nights in smoky editing suites and exotic locations, observing his father collaborate with some of the industry's all-time greatest talent -- playwright Neil Simon, director Joe Mankiewicz (All About Eve), or writer-director Elaine May (Tootsie, Reds).
Mr. Scherick's career journey began when he graduated with an honors degree from Harvard University
For the next twenty years, Mr. Scherick would continue to write scripts for the Hollywood studios, including Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Universal, and others. He would also apply his talent for crafting story and structure working as a film editor on projects such as The Last Resort, starring Charles Grodin, and Fox Network's weekly hit television serial, Melrose Place.
Mr. Scherick's continuing fascination with story would eventually lead him to embark upon an intensive study of creativity,
where he would temporarily abandoned mainstream Hollywood to journey underground into the dark recesses of the creative unconscious.
Experimenting with the alchemy of creation, he sought to comprehend and then master the mysterious, elusive nature of myth and its
mechanical workings. Eventually, combing his accumulated knowledge with a facility for navigating the realm of the unconscious,
Mr. Scherick developed a procedural approach to story and screenwriting that has the ability to consistently create powerful
stories and screenplays.
Over the years, Mr. Scherick has had the good fortune to ply this alchemical mastery working as story analyst and ghost writer for
some of Hollywood's top screenwriters on projects for Dreamworks, Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Brothers.
He also employs this same technique as a personal life coach, using his gift for understanding the inner-workings
of myth to help individuals rewrite the story of their lives and enjoy
a more fulfilling, purpose-oriented existence.
Most recently, Mr. Scherick wrote and produced Ravenhurst, a half-hour serial
comedy radio show for the Air America network and executive
produced a feature film for respected independent production company, Cineville, responsible for such indy classics as
Swimming With Sharks; Gas, Food, and Lodging, and Hurlyburly (starring Sean Penn). Along with offering
professional consulting services to screenwriters and production companies, he continues his work as a personal life coach.
